Ode to Courtney
Zzzzt. . . .Zzzzt
*grumble*
Zzzzt. . . .Zzzzt!
"Whaaaa?"
Zzzzzt. . . .Zzzzzt!!
"Oh man, I just got into bed!"
*flips open phone, and presses speaker*
"What's up man?"
"We have a drunken situation here."
"What are you talking about?"
"Sean's really drunk and thinks he needs to walk to Arielle's house. I've had a few beers too, can you come down and give us a ride?"
*grumbles to self, what did I answer the phone for?*
"Shit. . . . . I'll be there in a few minutes."
I throw my clothes on that I had shed not long ago and head out the door. The phone rings again as I get ready to pull out of my drive way.
"What's up Sean?"
"You in your car?"
"Yeah"
You on the road?"
"Not yet."
"I'm not as drunk as Fern thinks I am. I'm just going to walk over there to prove a point. You don't have to come all the way down here out of your way to give me a ride."
"Dude, I'm not gonna let a friend walk all that way in the middle of the night. It's not a big deal man, that's what friends are for after all right? I'll be there in a few."
"Thanks man, I'll see you in a minute."
I drive down there and they are waiting for me at his Jeep. I get out of my car and we all pile in the jeep. She doesn't live more than five minutes away drive time, but if they had walked it would have taken the better part of two hours.
We pull up to her house and we do a rolling stop and he jumps out and we drive a little ways to turn around and pick him up. All he wanted to do was drop a book off for her, and I guess she wouldn't answer when he called.
We get back to their place, where I say goodbye. Man hugs are exchanged and I'm safe to head off to bed knowing there will most likely be no more drunken shinanigans tonight.
